Sahil in Partnership with ActionAid is implementing a project SYBAN - Street Youth HIV & AIDS Information and Counseling Centre in Red Light Area of Lahore included the areas of Lari Adda and Minar-e-Pakistan from 2009 onwards.

PROJECT GOAL

To empower and strengthen street youth through capacity building on their rights and support systems.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES

• To advocate and lobbying for the rights of street children with concerned authorities by mobilizing and organizing all stakeholders.

• To promote information and prevention of STI/HIV & AIDS among street children and youth, drug users and health issues of sex workers around Fort Road, Taxali Gate and Minar-e-Pakistan of Lahore.

• To provide psychological counseling & support services to emotionally vulnerable young people.

ESTABLISHMENT OF SYBAN

A centre for the provision of information and services to street youth was established in Taxali Gate Lahore in July 2010. A core group of 9 peer educators will enable to motivate and organize street youth to be change agents in their communities.

• Establishing referral systems

• Opportunities of vocational trainings
