Rehabilitation of Juveniles at Adiala Jail Rawalpindi
Sports & Recreational Activities at Adiala Jail Rawalpindi
The program is in response to the need to
help juvenile offenders to raise their quality of life and interactions by
enhancing their self confidence. The program consists of group counseling, legal
aid, sports, and screening and vaccination against Hepatitis B&C.
There are three barracks in the juvenile ward and the group counseling session
is held
with juveniles' barrack wise twice a
week 45 minutes in length. Each group is facilitated
by one male psychologist and one male
teacher trainer.
Art work as a part of the counseling
sessions is done by the juveniles. These are graded
for the first, second and third positions.
This program was initiated in 2008 and included in the counseling sessions. This
is an
activity based program for children on
social and financial education. Under Aflatoun
program, Sahil trainer conducts sessions
with juveniles in three barracks on different
aspects of social and financial savings.
The topics covered are savings, social
savings, orientation and making of money
boxes, monitoring and verification of savings,
and understanding the concept of needs and
wants.
Juveniles are provided with free legal aid.
Against Hepatitis B & C, juveniles are screened and vaccinated. Medicines
for
different disorders are provided to juveniles.
To give juveniles a sense of unity with the nation, Sahil contributes to
celebrate August
14 every year. The juveniles are
provided with small and large flags to decorate their
barracks.
For providing information, magazines published by newspapers and other
publications
are distributed among juveniles.
For the celebrations of Eid-ul-fitr, ready made shalwar qameez suits and
sweets
are distributed among juveniles.
