Volunteer Partnership Unit (SWAT)
Referral
Units (RUs) have been successfully established at Abbottabad, Sukkur, Jaffarabad,
Lahore
and Rawalpindi/ Islamabad.
Four Referral Units of Abbottabad,
Sukkur, Jaffarabad and Lahore have been staffed with a
Unit Coordinator, Officer Counseling, a part time Legal
consultant and office support staff.
Rawalpindi/ Islamabad Referral Unit is an addendum to the Head Office and
is supporting the Adiala Jail Intervention. It has a full time Legal
Advisor and Senior Program Officer on its staff.
Initial
visits to the districts were made and MOUs were signed with Sungi in
Abbottabad, Women Organization in Sukkur headed by the Local Union
Counselor and NCHD in Jaffarabad. Networking meetings were held with local
NGOs for introducing Sahil’s activities excluding the Rawalpindi Referral
Unit.
PROVISION OF LEGAL AID AT REFERRAL UNITS
During
2006, a total of 36 CSA cases were dealt by SAHIL. Free legal services
were provided at the four Referral Units.

Unit teams monitor 31 regional daily newspapers.

Rawalpindi – 5 English and 10 Urdu daily newspapers
Volunteers are also contributing to the monitoring of 13 Sindhi regional
newspapers, and 12 Urdu daily newspapers.
F.I.R
POSTER DISPLAYS AT DISTRICTS
As an initial introduction to Sahil Legal
Aid facility, F.I.R posters have been put up in police stations,
District courts, bar councils and local organizations.
Meetings with lawyers, judges, police officials are an on going activity
for increasing the display of the posters for imparting the message of
legal aid to the victim and survivor families.
